Case study: Supermaxi

The Challenge

During the first quarter of 2013, Corporación Favorita, the biggest retailer in Ecuador and one of the largest retailers in Latin America, was looking for a partner to design and develop their mobile strategy.

Corporación Favorita was looking for quality, efficiency, subject-matter expertise, and fresh ideas for reaching more customers through the implementation of their mobile presence.

The Shopping Assistant application for Supermaxi was the first mobile application to be developed. Supermaxi, the most popular supermarket chain in Ecuador, is the main brand of Corporación Favorita. 

The Solution

The application was developed to reach the most popular smartphone platforms in Ecuador: Android, iPhone, and BlackBerry. Devsu provided the expertise and guidance to create an engaging and clean user experience for each of them.

Devsu’s user interface experts worked together with the client in order to create a modern, easy-to-use, and useful application, always following best practices and guidelines defined for each OS.

After the functionalities and user experience were designed, Devsu’s development team built native applications, ensuring maximum performance and usability.

The Results

By mid-2013, Devsu was selected from among various important mobile development companies as Corporación Favorita’s partner to develop and implement the company’s mobile strategy. Since then, Devsu has been working closely with the corporation’s marketing team, not only to develop high-quality mobile applications but also to provide support and ideas to increase the company’s market share by providing its clients with amazing mobile tools that increase their engagement with Corporación Favorita’s brands.

The Supermaxi Shopping Assistant application has received incredible acceptance among users, reaching an increase of up to two thousand daily downloads and a 4+ star rating on the stores. It quickly became the most popular and most downloaded local application in Ecuador.
